We were just talking about anti-psychotic meds in class, so I thought this might be relevant:

Eww...
Wow, I love how the last post on this blog was mine, as well. A sign of increased stress among med students? =)
Anyway, just thought that I would relate an experience from my physician shadowing yesterday.
Guy comes in, says that he's having an awful lot of nosebleeds. Doctor takes a history, takes a look in the nasal cavities, and everything's fine. Recommends some nasal sprays, etc. Nothing too big. Then the doctor decides to take a look into the patient's ears, just to complete the physical exam. And there's something in there. So we flush it out.
It was a bug. Honest to god. A (dead) bug with wings and all. We were both like "..." When we asked the patient if he had noticed anything with his ears/hearing, he just shook his head. No problems whatsoever.
Yeek.
And then we had to do another flush, to get the (shudder) rest of the legs out.
